Dr. Petkov earned his Medical degree in 1992 from Medical University in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2009 he completed his OB/GYN residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Petkov bring with him to Sun Life Health experience, a vast knowledge base and surgical skills.

He was born in Ruse, Bulgaria and moved to Arizona in 2012. His passions outside of compassionate medical care are gardening, cycling, carpentry and fixing electrical appliances. On his bookshelf you’ll find science fiction books and he enjoys the TV show Friends and the movie The House of Flyer Daggers. One of his heroes is Vasil Levski, dubbed the Apostle of Freedom and a national hero in Bulgaria.

When asked what brought him to become part of the team at Sun Life Health, he spoke to how rewarding it is for him as a provider to work with patients who may not have had access to healthcare and as such may have complicated conditions. He said, “I find it very rewarding to take care of patients with such conditions, to help them recover, to educate them and give them guidance how to maintain better health.

Dr. Petkov is compassionate, professionally striving for perfection. He brings to his patients a personal focus and desire to focus on them as a human, a patient and not the medical condition they may have.
